I've been neglecting my responsibilities!!
posted May 30, 2009 by maryI haven't updated this since BEFORE vacation. Oops. We went on vacation, came home and a weekend later went to the Indy 500 again. Sure do love those free tickets. Dad has always said that the 500 gets in your blood. I really and honestly believe that now. I LOVE the 500. The atmosphere, the camaraderie, the cars, the smells. It's all amazing. The sound of the vehicles alone gives me goose bumps.
Vacation was spectacular. I didn't want to leave, and I want to go right back again, and soon. Tennessee is prettier than I remembered. The view from our cabin was unbelievable. Looking out at that view every day was honestly the best form of relaxation I have ever experienced. The view alone was worth the trip. If we hadn't done anything else and stayed in our cabin the entire week, I pretty sure I would have been perfectly happy with that :)
While on vacation we visited Ripleys Aquarium. It's been quite a while since I've been to an Aquarium and the fish are just as mysterious and beautiful. It's strange, experiencing things as an adult that you did as a child. It makes you appreciate things that much more. We also went to Ober Gatlinburg and traveled up a mountain just to get the the attractions that they offer. That was a pretty neat trip in itself. We actually passed a house that was exactly modeled after the Barbie dream house, haha.
Before vacation Gretchen had another check-up and shots. She gets a break for a little while but she's up to 16 pounds!! She's squirming all over the place now and will be crawling very soon I think. She scoots in circles now trying to get to things and she's gotten pretty darn fast. As Missy said last weekend "she's so handsy! And she is, if I have something while I'm holding her she's reaching for it.
Grayce is only a few short months away from Kindergarten. She is so excited. I'm honestly in panic mode I think. Making sure that everything is taken care of before she enters school is quite a task. Were hoping that she is able to go to afternoon kindergarten to work out our schedules but unfortunately they can't guarantee that she will get the afternoon slot. Hopefully that all works out. For now, she's going to attend a summer camp with Daycare and I know that something she's been looking forward to as well.
Derrik and I are both good. Derrik is busy at work, as always. And things are doing pretty good for me as well.
Time to wrap things up, Gretchen has scooted to the wipe box and is trying to chew on it. The wipe box has become one of her favorite things to get to.
Love to all,
Mary, Derrik, Grayce and Gretchen
